Nokia N95 Review
ADVERTISEMENTSNokia N95 is a Nseries Smart Phone which is based on S60 Platform (which is a set of libraries for smart phones consisting of libraries, multimedia player etc) and Symbian OS Operating system (this OS is designed for Mobile Devices).
Being a smart phone and loaded with software it makes it unique among all the N series.
It can be described as phone which gives you 5 Mega Pixel camera, DVD Quality Footage, browsing and GPS mapping. It can be called as complete phone with just one glitch , though its a twin slider the design is not a ground breaking one.
Features of Nokia N95
- Integrated GPS System.
- 5 Mega pixel Camera.
- HSDPA technology gives you a download speed of 3.6 Megabits per second.
- 3.5 G technology
- Video Recording Nearly DVD quality.
- 2.6 inch Horizontal wide screen for watching videos and Maps.
- Supports MP3, WMA, RealAudio, SP-MIDI, AAC+, eAAC+, MIDI, AMR, M4A, True Tones formats
- USB 2.0 and Bluetooth 2.0 support
- Hardware accelerated PowerVR 3D graphics which makes graphics go high.
- 160 MB memory inbuilt and microSD memory Slot.
Dimension:
- 99 x 53 x 21 mm
- Weight 120 g
- Volume 90 cc
Now that you know most of the features, lets see the dark and bright side of the N95 model.
The Positives of Nokia N95
- Excellent Screen Size which allows clear views and positive for videos. In The age of “on Demand” Internet this can be a boost.
- Amazing Sound Clarity which takes up signals in elevators also.
- DVD quality video recording.
- Being a 5 Mega Pixel Camera gives yo the best of imaging in mobile phones. The phone comes with lifeblog software , which is in all NSeries, which allows you to upload photos to flickr
- Listening Music is a different experience with N95. The Sound quality is stable and rich. It doesn’t sound loud as other phones.
- Wi-Fi is given a huge support on N95. Thus allowing to connect to any hot spot. Even Voice Over Ip Support rocks.
The Negatives of Nokia N95
- The phone is little heavy in terms of software. The applications are reported to hang more often.
- Inbuilt memory is too less according to me. It should have come with much higher memory support keeping in mind the applications that run on it.
- The Battery along with this phone doesn’t even last a day. Thats a big down for this super smart phone.
- The design is not that attractive, Its more like a box design though its a 2 slider phone.
This phone is good but then it’s not for everybody. You might have to think before buying it specially because of the battery aspect. Whats your experience with Nokia N95, share with me

Too bad for the battery power. The other features look great. Did you see the N95 launch campaign? It’s very clever and funny. Check it out here:

: did you compare the battery with other nokia older phone? My N72 has same battery as 3230 model. If i keep on listening to music it drains out in a day. They should have given better battery.
: Thats funny and agree with you but n95 battery aint that good

It would have been nicer if the batteries can be charged through usb connection. Batteries drain very fast if it is plugged through usb and set like an external drive. I do not know if I am the only one who experienced it.

: I agree with you. With the kind of software and feature it has, you might need to charge it too often in case your usage is more. Thats one bad point about it

Not as good as advertised. I have not been able to receive Excel or Word file as attachment as they become winmail.dat when it arrives at my N95. Called Nokia at least 4 times the past month and finally they told me “sorry, the phone does not support attachments for POP3 and for me to receive such attachments I must subscribe to blackberry”. With the price we pay for this phone, the service and response from Nokia is truly disappointing.

It’s an awesome awesome phone. The features you get out of the box, are just the tip of the iceberg. Wait until you load FREE applications such as FRING (msn, google talk, skype, aim, etc all rolled into one package). I chat all the time now on my phone to friends all over the world. Not being tied to my desk is an absolute pleasure.
SHOZU (Take a photograph or a video and send it to one of 21 websites. (Youtube, WordPress, Windows Live Spaces, Webshots, Picasa, Kodak, Flickr, CNN, Blogger, an email address of your choice), SPODTRONIC (Crystal clear Visual Radio), it’s even better than the Visual Radio application that comes with the phone, and there are plenty of radio stations to choose from.
Honestly, I’ve had the phone now for 2 months, and I can’t fault it. Yes the battery drains quickly if you use everything all the time, but then Nokia have a cable that you can plug into your PC that charges the phone while you work, and you get car kits that charge the phone while one uses the SatNav. So running out of juice should not be a problem.
Word, Excel, Powerpoint, PDF and even ZIP files work perfectly well and I have even tried them as attachments in my GoogleMail and they open up quickly with ease.
There will always be a better phone around the corner. That is life! For now though, this is the best phone on the market in terms of features.

Nokia N95 Review
I’ve been using the N95 for a few days now. This is one hell of a cell phone. I did read a few reviews before buying the N95, obviously since it costs so damn much. A lot of people complained about the poor battery life and the slider being a bit wobbly. My friend’s got an N95 and I got the N95, but both the phones have very firm sliders, even when closed, unlike the Nokia 6270 which does wobble a bit when the slider is closed. About the battery life, i think it is not as bad as others say it is. On my 1st day, the use obviously being pretty heavy since you try all the stuff in the handset, the battery lasted about a day. I think the screen brightness has something to do with it. If you reduce the screen brightness a bit, like I did, the battery will work longer.
PRO’S:
Excellent Camera, pretty good pics even in low light conditions. Normally with my N70, pics taken in low light environments have a lot of purple spots all over it. But these purple spots are almost invisible with the N95 in similar conditions. The cam has several options to enhance picture quality before take the picture itself. You can adjust the sharpness, contrast, light exposure, and many more and create a user defined profile for the cam. The video quality is excellent, but take a awesome amount of memory at highest settings. Good thing though, you can set you cam to take pics at 5MP, 3MP, 2MP, 0.8MP and 0.3MP and videos in VGA at 30 fps or 15fps, QVGA at 30 fps or 15fps, and QCIF at 15fps(3gp format).
The screen in nice and big with a very clear and colourful display. However you may want to reduce the screen brightness a bit and keep the backlight timeout to about 15 secs if you want to increase the battery life. You can push it to the max if you don’t care about battery life.
The 2 loud speakers give an excellent sound output, much better and louder than my N70. The music player too has several options like equaliser, graphic visualizations, stereo widening, bass enhancer, etc. The earphones supplied give a good sound output but the bass effect is not as good as I expected it. However that’s not a problem since you can plug in your personal earphones of any make or model that have a 3.5mm pin and listen to music the way you like it. The remote on the earphone adaptor looks very sleek too.
I don’t really need the GPS facility in the phone and have not been able to try it out as not supported by my network currently and i haven’t visited the areas supporting wi-fi either. It’s a plus point for those who need it though.
The software response is pretty fast, compared to my N70 which is quite slow. It has a bearable time lag while opening applications, gallery, etc. It’s too early to judge it right now since my 1GB card is only about 400mb full. The phone is loaded up with a lot of extra softwares which will spice up your cell. One impressive feature included in the web browser is multi-window option which i didn’t have in my N70. This makes surfing a lot more fun and convenient.
One thing I was very happy about is that the phone came with a 1GB card with it, even though the Nokia-Asia website shows the in-box having only a 128mb card(which i was very disappointed to hear at first). it also comes with a very classy leather cover, which is normally not included in in-box accessories. A car charger would have been great, if included[I know I'm asking for too much now:-)]
Cons:
Battery life, though not too big an issue, could have been better.
Application Manager takes quite long to open, even though i hardly put any external softwares. The good thing is that software can be uninstalled from the main menu itself.
Everytime i restart my phone, i don’t get delivery reports for the first 10-15 minutes when i send text messages even though the settings show delivery reports ON. I have to wait about 15 minutes after starting it and it works after that automatically.
The body of the handset looks a bit poor in quality considering the cost of the phone. Lets see how long it can go.
If you put external themes that slows the cell a bit, the softwares(NOT THE PHONE) hang sometimes. Exiting it by holding the Menu key down and pressing the cancel button (c) takes very long.
Very Pricey, but worth every buck you pay.
Overall, in my opinion, if you got the cash…go for it!!!

I am using this phone for 1 month, it doesn’t give me any problems, its rocking, we con’t compare it even with I-phone, may be compare to i-phone its better , it accepts 2 GB memory cards,so we can store as many as possible, why people area looking for i-phone i don’y know , is it has 5MP camera like N95, Is it has WI-FI,GPS.Those who want mobile with good features can go for N-95,I phone is a I-pod with basic phone features, N95 is a good phone as compared to lot of mobiles.

I think n95 is one of the best phone in today’s martet. But the phone is not worth 4 this price. it comes with a lot of problems, poor slider and battery life, sluggish perfomance, extra bulky slider etc.I am using n73 music edition, not comparing to n95,but n73 is a perfect phone to me.

Hi All,
I just bought the N95 a couple of days ago and the first day the battery drained at the very end of the day just before sleeping because i was trying out everything possible in the phone. GPS, music, videos, photos, GPRS, Bluetooth everything. So, the exact battery life will be known once i start using my phone normally in my day to day life. But one thing for sure. its the best in the market currently. I had an N70 previously but this one is way too faster and smart than my N70. N95 Rocks!!!

For all of you waiting to get your hands on an iPhone instead.. consider this. The N95 is going to be your multimedia - hey guys have I have a camera and camcorder in my pocket. Feature packed - truly for the person that appreciates all the gadgets rolled into ONE device.
I’ve used the iPhone, and its nice, but compared to the N95 I was very dissappointed in the iphone - only used if for a week and I’m back to my Nokia N95 again. Expensive lesson to learn.
Cheers
