My Favorite WordPress Plugins
ADVERTISEMENTSIt’s been a while since I posted here…so I thought of starting by listing the WordPress Plugins I currently use, now that I am back. Below are the WordPress Plugins I currently have activated:
- Adsense-Deluxe: Place Google AdSense ads in your WordPress Posts
- Akismet: Prevents Spam
- Chunk Urls for WordPress: shortens urls in comments so that they won’t break your site
- Forwards all feed traffic to Feedburner while letting through some important User-Agents
-
Full Text Feed: Prevents WordPress 2.1+ from adding a more link to your website’s feed
- Google Sitemap Generator: Generates a sitemaps.org compatible sitemap of your WordPress blog which is supported by Ask.com, Google, MSN Search and YAHOO
- Head META Description: Inserts HTML META description tag: excerpt/content brief for post/Page, description for category, and blog tagline for everything else.
- Less: Changes the (more…) link so it displays the entire post, not just the part after the “more”
- Live Comment Preview: Supplies users with a live comment preview
- MyAvatars: Allows you to add MyBlogLog.com avatars to WordPress comments
- Permalink Redirect: Ensures that pages and entries are always accessed via the permalink. Otherwise, a 301 redirect will be issued
- Popularity Contest: Enables ranking of your posts by popularity
- PXS Mail Form: Creates a mail form
- Related Posts: Returns a list of the related entries based on active/passive keyword matches
- SEO Title Tag: Search engine optimize your blog’s title tags
- Show Top Commentators: Encourage more feedback and discussion from readers by linking the sites of the most frequent commentators.
- Add Related Posts to Feed: Adds Related Posts to your full content feed
- Subscribe To Comments: Allows readers to receive notifications of new comments that are posted to an entry
- Ultimate Tag Warrior: Tagging plugin
- WordPress Reports: Generates reports from Google Analytics and Feedburner data
- WP-PageNavi: Adds a more advanced paging navigation to your WordPress blog
- WP-Polls: Adds an AJAX poll system to your WordPress blog
- WP-UserOnline: Enables you to display how many users are online on your Wordpress blog with detailed statistics of where they are and who there are
- WWW Redirect: Redirects variations of identical domain requests to a consistent uri
I have listed many useful WordPress Plugins last year, check them out too. Is there any good WordPress Plugins that you think I should try out?

There is a new, easy plugin you could check too: Categories Autolink http://www.centrostudilaruna.i.....-autolink/
It automatically converts categories names, when cited in posts or pages, into links to the same categories. It means that if writing an article you cite a category of your blog (for instance “Web Design“), that word (or words) is automatically turned into a link to the cited category.

I use some of the plugins listed here. I’d say that the Full Text Feed is one that everyone should start using if his/her blog displays post excerpts on the front page.
Google Sitemap generator is a great plugin too.
WP-UserOnline - I’ve not heard of, I think I should give it a try.
Thanks for sharing this list.

Good to see you back John. You can use one plugin instead of these two plugins: Wasabi Related Posts and Show Related posts in Feed
Try this: http://dev.aizatto.com/categor.....ated-post/
It shows related posts both in post and feed. Two in One.

John, good to see you back. Great list of WordPress Plugins. My favorites are Adsense deluxe, Full Feed and WWW-Redirect. I use WWW-Redirect so that people linking to me will always use WWW and hence my blog’s PR will increase.

Also, you could use WP-Cache. Might come in very handy when hit by the digg effect or Slashdot. Without it you’re kind of screwed.
Anyway, from all these plugins, i was wondering how many do you use?

John - How come you don’t use the official Feedburner plugin? It redirects to your feedburner feed as well, but then you can use the ‘flare’ function (both in your feed and on your site) as well…

I think UTW is by far the most useful plugin from the list. Another important one in terms of SEO is “All in one SEO” plugin.
