Top Blogs About Blogging
ADVERTISEMENTSDaniel over at Daily Blog Tips has posted a list of the Top 25 blogs about blogging based on Google Page Rank, Alexa Rank, Bloglines subscribers and Technorati Authority, of which this blog is ranked at number 12.
JohnTP.com would have ranked higher on the list if it had more Bloglines subscribers, but most of the readers have subscribed to this blog using Google Reader which is what most people use these days to subscribe to a blog.
Some time back people used to use Bloglines more, so older blogs were able to rank higher on the list. Check out Darren’s comment on Daniel’s post -
The other thing is that I suspect older blogs will be ranked higher with this because of bloglines. These days more people use google reader so new blogs will have less people signing up with bloglines whereas a year or two back more people signed up with bloglines.
Through the list I was also able to find a few nice blogs that I had not seen before. Thanks Daniel for the great list.

Yeah, google feedfetcher seems to be the most popular rss feed reader.
I still use Opera’s RSS feed reader. It’s more than enough for me and is convenient since it is integrated with the browser.

The blogjuice formula is totally wrong. The Alexa ranking can be manipulated, and who uses bloglines these days ???

Thanks for the pick John!
Web 2.0, I am not using the same algorithm as the blog juice from TLA. Alexa ranking can be manipulated, still all the major advertising networks use it to dertermine advertising fees. Sometimes you need to use what you have.

It’s great to see that you have made such good foothold in the blogging world.
I also agree that most of the feed readers use Google Reader now but I definitely think you should in the top 10.
Cheers

I feel Bloglines should not be taken into consideration, because most of the people use Google Feed reader.

- You are spot on about Alexa.
- completetly agreed. Bloglines is somehow irrelevant giving the raise of Google Reader

I think a better system would be like how google uses backlinks - how many times your blog posts have been mentioned or trackbacked by the A list bloggers? Will it not give a more valuable measure (in terms of quality)?
Congrats for making it to Top 12 :-), Keep going

Kudos for placing at one of the top blogs. I have read an article about Web 2.0 and ranking (http://clickz.com/showPage.html?page=3626036) but don’t agree all parts.

Personally I feel Bloglines has seen it’s better days, but many seo tools take it into consideration when performing ranking task. I have the SEO plugin for Firefox and one of it’s features to to check how many Blogline subscriptions a site has.
