WordPress Plugin: Buy Me a Beer
ADVERTISEMENTSBuy me a Beer is a WordPress plugin that allows your readers to donate money to you via PayPal. The plugin adds a “Buy Me a Beer” button to the sidebar and at the end of all posts. When your readers click on that button, they are taken to the secure PayPal page from where they can donate money to you.
Why add a “Buy Me a Beer” button instead of a simple “Donate Money” button?
Past experience shows me that asking people to donate money by giving them a specific reason increases donations by 200%!
For people who prefer non-alcoholic drinks, there is a setting to replace the beer mugs with coffee cups.
I currently have this plugin installed and will try it out for about a month to see if it turns out to be a good way to make money online. Ok I am tired and thirsty, how about you buy me that coffee now?

Hey John,
I installed the plugin and someone bought me a beer already. After trying out for a month do let us know whether it can be used as a additional source of income.
Though this is a brilliant idea of making money from generous readers though.

Hey John,
Benedict is the same person who got me a beer, you a coffee and John Chow a beer, do you see any resemblance?
Did anyone else get free beer from Benedict?

Hmm.. I’m also planning to have the same in my blog. But for this to work flawlessly, you need to have a loyal readers community.

Is a nice idea, but i need to think about something creative readers can buy. and xbox360 is a good idea, but it will only work if Chow, Pavlina and Arrington are your readers

I’m not a fan of having it below each post, but its not to invasive on the sidebar, so I have placed this on my sidebar as a bit of an experiment.
It looks like you’ve already had a few takers, so it seems to work well

You should’ve written “Buy me Chai” that’ll make non-Desis curious of what it is or “Buy me Starbucks Coffee”

Great plugin. I’ve been having fun with it for about a month now. I few more donors in May than March so maybe this does work better than a “Donate” button!

This is a great spin on donation solicitations since it provides a low-bar and fun angle. It doesn’t seem as sad as asking for donations, but accomplishes the same thing.

I do not have one of those buttons do not know how to make one would you place the code on here for me? I have a blog htp://dogcents.blogspot wher instead of a beer Im asking for donations if you buy a small virtual on line dog with the small donation of 2.00 I give you a review and you get to choose your dogs name and also get to pick your dog from all the many pictures that are there. If anyone wishes to help me towards reaching my goal Please go and adopt one of the cute dogs I also have a Chip In box for donations so whatever you wish to help me out with is greatly welcomed and appreciaed. I do hope you al will go and take a look at it and leave me a comment and tell me what you all think and thanks.

have just implimented it!! hope it will get noticed. like someone said, this will only work if your blog has a strong following who keeps coming back for more. morale : give, and you will receive…. or at least that’s what i hope will happen :O)

after 12 donors, i realised that PayPal could be the brains behind this plugin *just kidding :O)*. i had priced my coffee at US$1… and everytime i get a donation, PayPal would get 33% of my coffee. i know i know…. i should be saying “my cup is 2/3 full” instead of focusing on the missing 1/3… but what the heck… my donor and i are getting short-changed. anyone knows how to get around this? does PayPal or other similiar service providers waive the fees for non-commercial donations? - ck

There are alternatives to paypal but part of the appeal is that they have more accounts then any one else so you have the ease factor which increases peoples tendency to pay you.Buys Buys Buys
