Make Money Online With AuctionAds
ADVERTISEMENTSAuctionAds is a Cost Per Action (CPA) based ad program that allows you to monetize your website by displaying live eBay auctions that match the content of your website and you make money online when your visitor buys products they are interested in. The great part about AuctionAds is that it can be run along with other ad programs like Adsense.
Like Chitika eMiniMalls, AuctionAds works best on product related sites. So you won’t be earning much by placing AuctionAds on non-product sites, also remember that you won’t make money unless your visitor buys the product.
To make more money with AuctionAds you can try blending the ads by changing its colors to match your site’s colors and using the right keywords that match your site. AuctionAds has also explained on how to specify the keywords.
The bad part about AuctionAds is that it is not contextual, meaning you won’t get any targeted ads to your site. You will have to manually enter the keywords relevant to your site.
Using Tags as AuctionAds Keywords
However, WordPress users who use Ultimate Tag Warrior plugin can use tags as the keywords for the AuctionAds. Using this method you can have more relevant ads on your single post pages and thus earn more. Techtites has explained on how to do this here.
Using Post Title as AuctionAds Keywords
You can also use the post title as the keyword by replacing
auctionads_ad_kw = "keyword";
with
auctionads_ad_kw = "";
There is also an AuctionAds WordPress Plugin that allows you to easily integrate AuctionAds into posts using different keywords. Also check out the WordPress AuctionAds Widget.

Hi John,
Thanks for the link. I noticed that Akismet flagged your pingback as spam. I submitted it as ham.
Maybe you should write to them to check this out, because any other pings on other sites running Akismet may not get displayed.

Akismet seems to be having some problem these days. It has been marking some of my readers comments as spam too. I even noticed once that my pingbacks to my own posts were treated as spam!

I may just give AuctionAds a try soon. I only have adsense on my site for now, but wanted a different way to monetize it.

AuctionAds seems to be a good one for blogs based on product reviews and such as you mentioned in the post, John. But these ads do generate a lot of clickthroughs!

I have auctionads for 2 months, and whilst I’m not a huge “product blogger” (I don’t review things generally), I have managed to make the $10.00 payout level both times easily, and this month is looking similar. I love it!

For me AuctionAds has been a major failure. I made only 3cents from the start… so well, most probably going to knock off all those ads from the blog during a minor redesign.

I dont think it would work well with a general technology website like mine. It’s probably better suited for websites promoting gadgets and other products.
If the reader is reading about a digicam review, its more likely that he wants to buy one.

I’ve had some nice sales using AuctionAds on a few of my blogs. The more focused the niche, the better they seem to work, ie; having the ads show Dell laptop auctions when review a Dell laptop.

I think auction ads will be successful only for product based blogs. Otherwise people will buy products only from individual sites like ebay or amazon. Auction ads was a failure for me.

,
Akismet is catching normal comments as spam. I thought that it would normally catch comments with link, but for me some comments without links also went into spam.

OK, this is off topic, but we’re seeing some of the same issues with Akismet that Ajay and John mentioned above.

I agree with Shankar the auction ads generate lots of click throughs, but since it it based on sale, vrey less scope for making money.
I made only a buck since am running it and am looking for a better alternative now.

Hey Techie Buzz,
I’m confused how you could make a single dollar with this, as opposed to a larger amount?
We started using AuctionAds a few days ago, and made one sale so far, and got $11.76 in commission.
Check out the eBay payout explanation:
http://affiliates.ebay.com/odc.....ate=Payout
By my understanding they pay you a set amount for each new person recruited (between $12 and $22) - regardless of the value of the transaction.
IN ADDITION they will pay you a percentage of your revenues you brought in that month (between 40 and 65%). So I’m expecting more money for this sale to come in by the end of the month.
** NOTE, eBay just announced they’re REALLY increasing their payout schedule in June, so I’d say if you’re not doing this, start doing it asap.
Have an awesome day!

Oh, one more thing. I think they main problem people are having with AuctionAds conversions is not featuring the right products that will convert well on their sites.
This is much like finding the right affiliate programs that will convert well on your site.
eBay (I believe) doesn’t care how much the person spends on the first item they buy through you, the one you recruit them for. So if you find an amazing product that people can get very cheap, promote that. just browse ebay for products that should convert well on your site, and then customize auctionads to show those products.
We’re still tinkering with the keyword generating tools to get it showing the right products, but that aside I think this has a lot of potential.
And this can definitely be made to work for non-product sites. For example…
Our site is a Dating & Relationship advice column. So, we feature stuff that will play well to our audience, like romantic thriller DVDs, etc.
I’m still trying to get the keyword stuff working right every time, but the point remains.
Have an awesome day!

Dan and Jennfer- To get the right products that will convert well on your site, just convert your UTW tags or the post title as the AuctionAds keywords (for WordPress users).

John, do you know what’s going on with MyBlogLog Avatars?
I just noticed you’re having the exact same problem we are - instead of the regular pictures it’s showing “MyAvatars 0.2″.
Thanks!

Unless you have huge traffic , i doubt that Auction ads will work .

i agree with madhur. the reason for this was because auction ads got over 500 clicks the other day and i didnt make a single cent. i recently removed them fearing that they would take visitors from my site. i think the only way you’ll make money from them is with referrals and luck!

Problogger had a post on this product when it first came out and again just a couple weeks ago.
I’ve been reading the comments above and I have to say that AuctionAds can work even if you dont have a product blog. I havent tested it yet but I have been playing around with the code.
For example, my blog is about husband and parenting skills (I dont really that many posts just yet cause its a new blog I started)and not a product blog, however auctionads can work with specific products just like amazon. If I go ahead and write about an amazing product or toy that I have at home I could go to auctionads and enter the name of the product in the keyword and the ad that will appear will be specifically for the product I am posting about. Then instead of adding the auction ad to my sidebar, which would cause it to appear on every page of my blog, I can add it at the bottom or center of of my post. This way I can give people the choice of buying the product from amazon at full price (through my Amazon affiliate link) or from ebay and a fraction of the price. You can create your own win win situation.

I just started blogging in my foreign blog. How long should i wait for publishing ads? My English blog is two months old. Turkish one is almost 2 years old.

Most would click and see what the next page has to say but to take an additional step to sign up, bid then wait to see how the bidding takes off, that would happen if the reader is seriously searching to buy.
