More WordPress Plugins To Increase Comments On Your Blog
ADVERTISEMENTSFew days back I had mentioned the Top 5 WordPress plugins that help increase comments on a blog. Here are some more plugins that can help.
- WP Ajax Edit Comments: This plugin (for WP 2.1+) allows users and admins alike to edit comments on a post. Users can edit their own comments for a period specified by the Admin, and Admins can edit all post comments. This plugin can help reduce typos on reader comments and at same time encourage more comments from them.
- Get Recent Comments: This highly configurable plugin displays the most recent comments in the sidebar. You can make the plugin to link the recent commenter’s site along with an excerpt of their comment. Linking to the commenter’s site can encourage them to comment even more.
- Live Comment Preview: This plugin will display a live preview of your readers comments as they type. To install the plugin, just activate it!
- Comment Quicktags: This plugin inserts a quicktag toolbar on the blog comment form that will help your commenter’s to easily make thier comment in bold or italics, or to insert links.
- MyAvatars: This plugin displays the reader’s MyBlogLog avatars besides their comments. This may not help in increasing comments much, but readers may like seeing their avatars on your blog
Do you know any more plugins that can help increase comments?

The “Edit Comments” plugin is great. We’ve been using it for a few weeks now without issue. Several readers/commentators requested some way to edit mistakes after hitting Submit and this does the job perfectly. Highly recommended.

I like the comments quicktags as they reduce the time to comment.
Myavtar comment can be a killer for your blog. It slows down the pageload and can overload your host cpu.
Get Recent Comments can be useless if placed on sidebar.
WP Ajax Edit Comments can be little useful but ppl dont put so much of effort. But good for corrections.

I use WP Ajax Edit Comments, WP Ajax Edit Comments and LMB^Box Comment Quicktags. In fact I recommended them on my blog too a couple of days ago.
Instead of MyAvatars I use gravatars. But, mybloglog seems to be more popular than the gravatar service nowadays, so I plan to switch sometime soon.

Bah. I goofed up in my previous post. And had js disabled so couldnt edit.
I meant WP Ajax Edit Comments, Live Comment Preview and Comment Quicktags. I had recommended them in my article Top Five Little Known Wordpress Plugins. But, now since you have blogged out it, most of the people would come to know about it

Some of these just seem like cool features, but I don’t think they would increase comments much. I do really like the comment preview though.

I think this was the site where I saw the live comment preview first. This is a nifty little plugin, I’ve downloaded both this and comment quick tags. Thanks for the tip!!

If the version John is offering is similar to the one I use, then you would need to add a line to the comments.php file.
The code should look something like this
The second line is the line where you need to insert the code to include the quickcodes box.

egon- I think the same too. They enhance features and everything, but increasing comments doesn’t sound like their job.

You are certainly practicing what you preach. Your site has become very sticky for me as I’ve already added two of the plugins you sugggest and will be coming back for more advice.

I use the “favicon puller” rather than the mybloglog one, I find it less intrusive.

The avatar thing is really cool. I have found the Favicon thing a little difficult to use.

Hmmm…. I noticed you are not using the recent comment plugin. Its a good way to increase comments as visitors can see which post is getting the latest comments. And people get traffic everytime they post a comment.

MyAvatar is a great Wordpress plugin because it allows users to make their comments easily indentifiable with a quick glance.
I love subscribe to comments, but MyAvatars is a close second!
What is your opinion on the threaded comments plugin (which allows you to reply to individual comments)?

Do you know how to add Avatars to initial postings and not just limited to those who make comments on the post?

Hi,
The comment quicktags plugin that you mention here brakes themes layouts. I have found a modified version which worked great for me!

The best plugin by far is the All-in-one SEO plugin that’s available now in the wordpress site. Does everything you need re: meta tags and title headers, even if you don’t know anything about design or seo.

I just came across your blog a couple of days ago and am very impressed with the excellent information. I’ve installed several of the plugins you suggest in hopes of generating more comments. Of course, first I have to get the visitors.
