Resetting Top Commenter List Every 6 Days
ADVERTISEMENTSLast month new commenters had to make 20 or so comments to get into the Top Commenter list as the list was being reset only at the end of the month.
To give chance to more readers, I have set the Top commenter list to be reset every 6 days. So from now on the list will show how many comments the Top Commentators made in the past 6 days.
The Top Commenters will also be rewarded from time to time by featuring good posts from their blogs here.
So start commenting

i think that its a good idea to reset the list every month or something similar but i think that 6 days is just way too short.

subhash- I had used the Autoclose comments plugin earlier which prevents spam on your blog by disabling comments in posts that are 21 days old.

: But then if somebody reads your articles on money making or maybe wordpress plugins and have some doubt what does he do ?

yeah i have also the same question as Ashish had…..Instead of using autoclose comments,I think you can use spamblocker plugin which i think is avaiable for websites.just search for it.

The comments that old posts receive are often spam. Good comments are often made on the latest posts.
Anyways I had disabled the AutoClose comment plugin some time back.

People no need of asking me for link once you link any of my post in your article…Now fivepointsomeone shows the backlinks automatically from blogsearch…E.g madhur linked me and he has his link in the end of this page

: Thats great then. New readers who see your old posts can comment and ask again. I think the best way is to manually close the comments

John - I think that’s a great idea. With comments up, it gives others an opportunity as well. It also encourages even more comments.

John have you ever thought or adding the ‘reply to’ or nested comments? It’s WAY easier to respond to a question or comment this way and will probably create more traffic.

Not a bad idea John… It’s nice to see that you reward your commenters and also consider to make it easier for the not so regular viewers to be listed in the top commenter section every once in awhile.

Collect Airmiles Faster- I tried it, but the plugin does not work well on my blog. It shows some error and looks ugly too.

Thanks for getting back to me. I tried to apply it to my theme and I couldn’t figure it out either. Although, the hockey game was on and I wasn’t really trying that hard.

Just out of curiosity how did you come up with 6 days? I would have expected every 7 days or twice a month or something.
Either way, I think it’s a good move, although to gain the SEO benefits (a link back to the site of your choice with the anchor text of your choice) you’ll have to remain a relative constant on the list. Links that come and go aren’t worth much in the eyes of the search engines.

I think 6 days is too short. So hard for readers to keep up the step.
maybe 10 days is ok.
