How To Make Money Online With Text Link Ads

ADVERTISEMENTS

Last month I reviewed Text Link Ads and explained how they help site owners make money online. Now let us take a look at a few simple tips that can help you increase your Text Link Ads earnings.

Sign up for Text Link Ads if you have not done so far.

  • Put your Text Link Ads above the fold:

Advertisers can count the number of clicks they get so it is very important to place the ad script in an area where your visitors will see and click. By improving the positioning of your ads on your web site you will sell more ads and will get a higher rate of renewal.

When a visitor wishes to advertise on your site, he will see if his link will be placed on an area where visitors of that site will notice. If you are placing the ad script on your sidebar, place them at the top where your visitors can see.

  • Place the ad script on the left side of your page:

You can choose where to place the links on your site, but remember that certain places can get you more money. You can use the Text Link Ads calculator to see how much a link is worth on your site depending on where you put it and whether you chose to offer a single page or a site wide link. The left side of your page can earn you the most and the link worth decreases as you move to the right side.

  • Choose how many ads you would like to display:

As a publisher you can choose how many ads you would like to display, and whether they will appear on a single page or sitewide. Be careful on what you choose because this will affect on how much each link on your site will cost. The more Ads you choose to appear, the lesser will be the price per link.

  • Update your Category Listing:

You can now update the category listing in the TLA marketplace anytime by logging into the “Edit Your Listings” page. Then click on “edit site details” and you will find the category selections in step two of the wizard. You can designate two unique areas where your site will be listed.

Choose two categories that best describes your site. This will help you get more advertisers, which translates into more money.

  • Increase your number of pages:

The more pages your site has, the more number of pages the Advertiser’s link will appear on. If you have a blog, write more posts to increase the number of pages and this will help you attract more advertisers.

  • Increase your Alexa Rank and Google Page Rank:

Get a higher ranking for your site and it will attract more advertisers and will get you a higher price per link.

Dosh Dosh has a good article on 20 Quick Ways to Increase Your Alexa Rank.

  • Contact TLA:

After your site gets a better Alexa and Google Page Rank, contact TLA and ask them to increase your links monthly price if they have not. Also, make sure that the link price is not too high or else you may not get new Advertisers for your site.

But remember that your old advertisers will still continue renewing at the old price. It happened to me.

Text Link Ads also has an affiliate program that will pay you $25 for any referred visitor that is accepted into their publisher program and installs the advertising script on their site for seven days. If you refer an advertiser who purchases an advertisement, the referral will appear in your affiliate account within 24 hours.

Here is one, Use Crazy Egg to find which part of your blog is clicked more.

Keep the most clickable area for you and give the second to TLA.This will make the advertiser feel they are getting good traffic and might like to stay.

    What do you think?

Good tips. How would you decide how much to charge for links? For example, on one of my sites (PR5,) I have all 10 spots taken up at $25 per month each (12.50 for me.) It’s been this way for a long time now (3 months, I think.) Obviously I’m not charging enough, how can I tell?

Ashish- Crazy Egg will show the content part as the most clicked area.

Second tip is good. I have seen a few bloggers make a post at the end of the month to thank the Advertisers.

egon- Find out what other bloggers in the same category with similar traffic levels and ranking as yours is charging for a link.

TLA lists their publishers by category, so check out how much others are charging.

I don’t know Gili, but I do see a lot of blogs in their marketplace with VERY low rankings still making some money. I only know you have to have a decent amount of content and have to be around for a certain period of time but I don’t think it’s too long.

: Yeah I have seen them too.I wonder why they didn’t accepted my blog till now.I have better traffic than last 2 mnths and comments too.I just don’t know why they are not accepting

It sucks that they don’t let the advertiser see the page or at least the Google PR. Alexa rank is terribly inaccurate anyway, why do they only rely on that? Seems kinda crappy to me.

: Its about following the standard. There is no other standard available which can measure the traffic. If the hosts can submit the daily traffic to some official site which can act as source for all the traffic ranking…Alexa can be beaten or Alexa should adopt some methods like adding a script to every site

Oh, you have a comma in your URL instead of a period, I would correct that. It’s certainly not a content issue, I don’t know what to say, sorry man.

PayPerPost is 90 days, I’d say that’s a pretty universal point to try again

BTW, I also read that post level TLA is coming apart from site level TLA. I think its a good move…

Meaning what exactly? Site-wide links will be more expensive?

:Site wide links are always expensive.

: I read it on JC i think. Its a good move. But then I might not like to have my post having sold like that.It might be bad for SEO as google might think its a pay per post

Great advice, but the real challenge comes in selling your first link, so people know they can advertise.

Good point Rob, but I think as long as you have a lower (TLA recommended) price set, you should be fine. I think I got my first within the first few days.

: actually, I think TLA pays more attn to your Alexa rank than your Google PR, which is stupid. Of course your Google PR matters though.
