GMail Delete Keyboard Shortcut

ADVERTISEMENTS

Amit Agarwal recently found a simple keyboard shortcut to delete email messages in Gmail that works across all web browsers.

If you are reading a message in GMail, press the # key (Shift+3) and that message will instantly move to Trash.

Alternatively, select one or more email messages in the GMail list view, press the same # hash key and all the selected GMail conversations will be deleted in one batch.

This secret keyboard shortcut is very useful, I wonder why Google decided not to share it with GMail users.

I wonder why they didn’t follow the normal convention by using the delete key…any everybody blames only Microsoft uses its own convention every time and they don’t follow standards.

Nice one. Even though Gmail has a lot of available space I still delete emails everyday and this will make it faster.

Great tips. Thanks. I have never got used to keeping my email. Once I read, I file it away or delete it. 9 out of 10 times, its in the trash.

That’s a really odd keyboard shortcut!

Although by the time I’ve woken up tomorrow I’m sure to have forgotten it, so I’ll probably be clicking the ‘delete’ button ;)

This is a nice tip, Gmail has made publish their shortcuts but indeed this one is not present there.

: Delete Keys are not to be used to often. There is always a reason to hide things which can remove things permanently.Thats the only reason they must have hide it.
