    Thank you!

what is the best way to upgrade from the old version without having to redo everything for my custom look? Can I just save my old style.css, header.php, and footer.php, which I think may be the only files that I have changed… and replace the new files with them???

    any help would be appreciated!

    thanks a bunch!

Important: First go to K2 Options panel, click on the Uninstall K2 button. This will deactivate and clear your K2 options. Ignore any headers error that you get.

After that upload the latest version of TripleK2 and activate it.

Then, copy your schemes from the old styles folder to the new TripleK2 styles folder.

And then select your style from the K2 options page.

Can I just save my old style.css, header.php, and footer.php, which I think may be the only files that I have changed… and replace the new files with them???

There are changes in the header.php, footer.php and style.css. So it is best you use the new files.

This would not have been a problem if you had made changes to TripleK2 in a separate css file and placed it in ’styles’ folder.

Too fast to draw and put a hole in my boot. Immediately uploaded new version of Triplek2, after removing new style.css, but not first uninstalling k2. Now I try to access my site and get “Fatal error: Cannot redeclare register_sidebar() in /home/”MYBLOG”/public_html/wp-content/themes/TripleK2/app/includes/sbm.php on line 27″… Dammit! Way past bedtime already…so kick myself upstairs and deal with it in a.m.

    Is this different from ‘3 Column K2 0.9.5 RC1′ by http://www.obharath.net/blog/3columnk2/ ?
Actually only today morning I downloaded that and here I have another one… Which one is the latest?

JC- Check the above screenshot. Bharath’s theme has sidebars together and TripleK2 has sidebars on both sides.

I had a backed up public.html restored on the server after deleting whole public directory. Uninstalled theme using uninstall k2 option, ingnoring header error message. Then renamed old version. Dearchived a fresh new Triplexk2 folder and uploaded to the themes directory. Aactivated that in Presentation, then tried to viw site and got: “Fatal error: Cannot redeclare register_sidebar() in /home/nefarmer/public_html/wp-content/themes/TripleK2/app/includes/sbm.php on line 27″ I carefully repeated the process and got the same result. Hmmm… Can you suggest what I should try now?
As you can see in my previous post, line 27 seems to be cursed.
    Thanks

Dan Hurley- Do you have the WordPress Widgets plugin activated? If so, disable it and then click on Reset and Uninstall K2 and reactivate TripleK2.

I cannot access the plugins page to deactivate, nor can I do anything on the presentation page…the same message as above re sbm.php on line 27. I guess I will try just deleting that plugin from the plugins directory…

    JohnTP:
Thanks for your help. I now have the new version of Triplek2 running; however, since I’d made such extensive changes in the previous version’s style css, and the configuration of the underlying K2 theme has apparently changed so radically, I believe the only practical thing for me now is to return to the old version, which did seem to work fairly well with wp 2.1. I tried rewriting the new style.css to correspond to the old one, but that doesn’t work, does it? I did try to upload the old Photoshop header image from my computer using the k2 option utility — it just will not work (Maybe my crappy (rural) low-speed connection has something to do with that), so I ftp’d it into the triplek2/images/headers directory on my server, but k2 doesn’t find it. The style “scheme” notion is probably a good one, but I have spent a month learning a bit of basic css and extremely basic php monkeying with the theme to get it right, can’t repeat that immediately — not enough time and patience.
    Thanks, again.

John, the theme looks great !! I love K2 and thanks for working on it. But, John, if you don’t mind, may I recommend you to create a theme based on the simple but fast Blue Zinfandel 2.0 theme.

I mean, what I would really appreciate is to have a provision for Ads on the header like your theme does. The banner Ads fit really well and it looks professional as well. So, if you need it, here’s he link to the theme page :- http://www.briangardner.com/th.....-theme.htm

JohnTP - Thanks for the triplek2 update. You rock !
I also had the widget plugin that I had to delete before I was able to access the admin or even the site.
    Thanks again.

JohnTP: After I got over my impatience, I figured out how to make the new version work, but I used style.css… I will have to create a scheme now… so this doesn’t happen again. Sorry for pestering you. And for YOUR patience, thanks.

John, I am using your theme and have modified it quite a bit. I have added Google ads, changes in the sidebars, etc. I would like to upgrade to your latest theme. From the comments above it seems as though it didn’t implement my changes in the best manner to support future upgrades.

Is there a way that I can implement my changes, so that it will be easier to upgrade in the future? Thanks

    John,

I am very impressed! I have really liked your themes since day one… it amazes me how nice your themes look and how well the code is written. Thanks for the hard work on keeping this one going! It is one of the best Wordpress themes I have seen… and the best part, its free!
