Tribal Fusion
ADVERTISEMENTSTribal Fusion is the leading site representation company with a monthly reach of 19 billion impressions and 176 million users worldwide. Tribal Fusion’s payment is calculated based on Ad impressions. So the higher your website traffic is, the more revenue you will get.
I decided to try out Tribal Fusion as I did not want to depend entirely on Google AdSense. Tribal Fusion accepted JohnTP.com on January 15, and I earned $123.88 last month. [Note: I started earning only from the 15th of the month and in between I did some tests that made me earn only about $3 for 5 days and I could not check my earnings as I was not at home at the time]
Though not as good as AdSense, it worked better than Chitika eMiniMalls did for me. Chitika eMiniMalls got me only $12 for last month.
My Thoughts
You might find Tribal Fusion’s interface confusing the first time - it took me some time to find my daily earnings. By the way, they provide real-time revenue and impression reports.
Since they offer CPM based Graphic and Flash Ads, you do not have to waste time blending the Ads like we do with AdSense Ads
Ads by Tribal Fusion are Graphical and Flash Ads, so they may annoy your visitors. They have popup Ads too, so you may want to remove them.
Can I apply for Tribal Fusion?
To try out Tribal Fusion, your site must have:
- A minimum of 2,000 unique users per day
- Highly targeted, relevant and regularly updated content
- Professional site design
- An active user base
If your site meets the above requirements, you can apply for Tribal Fusion here

I’m interested in knowing how this turns out for you after a full month, so make sure to post an update!
Did you remove Chitika, or is it just on specific pages? It seems to work best with closely related products, I think.

Well as far as my opinion is concerned, I think tribal fusion is good but John dont they keep repeating old ads or not?
and also I think its hard to get accepted by tribal fusion on the other hand Adbrite and Adsense are piece of cakes
Anyways still i will surely look forward to tribalfusion as soon as I get some traffic
thanx for the review John

As appealing as it looks I won’t work with any advertiser that uses pop-ups. I believe I’d qualify for the system but, man, flashy banners and pop-ups screams spam to me.
Your site is getting a little borderline lately. I think since you added them I’ve noticed a difference in the quality of ads.

Dj Flush-
Yes, I have noticed same Ads being repeated. But I guess it’s ok as Tribal Fusion’s payment is calculated based on Ad impressions
menghua-
Well, it is less compared to AdSense. Anyways, something is better than nothing
Christer Edwards-
You can block popups in your Contol panel, so that popups dont appear on your site.

Christer Edwards-
You mean the quality of the Ads decreased?
I will be reducing the number of Tribal Fusion Ads and try to put them in places where visitors find it less irritating.

Nice, I’m getting 8k unique a day. How much is it per impression? Do they display ads on every page load?

TF is definately good revenue source. But with this much traffic using azoogle ads or another affiliate network you can earn more.

Alex- Different Tribal Fusion Ads have different CPMs. I get an average CPM of about $1.63 daily.
They usually display ads on every page load, but if no paying ad is available, a PSA ad is shown.

Ok that’s pretty low, but I’ll still try it. I’ve been using feed burner’s ads for CPM. They pay $3-5 per 1,000 impressions. However currently their network is so small the ads aren’t displayed on every impression. For instance, it took me at least 15 days to get 15,000 impressions with them.

CPM of $1.6 is not bad, compare to adsense CPM ads. Moreover I think they do not have exclusive clause i.e one can use it with other ad also.

Alex- A few days back, I registered for FeedBurner Ad Network (FAN), but they did not contact me yet. How long will it take?
$3-5 per 1,000 impressions is good.I can’t wait to try FAN.

It took a few weeks for me, and it takes a long time to get a decent amount of publishers for your website. After a few months, once a lot of publishers put ads on your site, you’ll get an ad on most impressions.
Ryan

How much do you need for the FeedBurner Ad Network?
JohnTP
February 5, 2007 at 11:49 am
Ryan- I was able to register for the FeedBurner Ad Network only after I got 500+ RSS subscribers.

How long does Tribal Fusion take to accept you? Also their website’s registration is terrible:
Not SSL’d even when it asks for SSN
State text field requires the two letter abrev, in cap letters, or else it returns an error.
JohnTP
February 5, 2007 at 1:41 pm
Alex- I think it took about 10 days for Tribal Fusion to accept me.

Thanks for the heads up. For some reason they don’t just tell you how many you need (I guess they don’t want people to fudge their numbers). Still a long way for me to go.

WOW!!! That’s a lot of money to earn….But I don’t have the traffic… do you know any other good ad provider other than adsense? I have a traffic of 7k per month right now with PR4.

TribalFusion did wonders to me, but since they were hardcore ads. I didn’t quite like it from viewers point of view. So I decided to remove it.
Sometimes it serves as default house ads for me

I read the site requirements after applying.
I get just around 1000 visitors daily.

And One more thing.
Did adding tribal fusion ads decreased ur adsense earnings ?
Overall increase or decrease in earnings ?
JohnTP
February 10, 2007 at 8:12 pm
Sodhi- I noticed that placing Tribal Fusion ads on my header decreases AdSense earning. But I get an increase in my total earnings, i.e, AdSense + Tribal Fusion
Sodhi
February 10, 2007 at 8:24 pm
I didn’t know you are indian too.
Does tribal fusion pays on click per cost basis or cost per impression ?
If it pays CPM basis, why not placing ads at bottom, so as to increase earnings of adsense.
Your site is getting very high paying adsense ads.
Do you submit posts to digg.com ?
If your story gets enough diggs, u can get upto 10,000 visitor in one day.

Are you full time with adsense ?
Or you also do a job ?
I am 20, pursuing my engg. degree at tiet, patiala.
I am thinking about going full time with this online business.

One thing I noticed about TribalFusion is that they turn off paid ads once the page is loaded more than once. The same applies when your site receives traffic above normal.
B.T.W John.. Do you allow non-paid ads in TribalFusion?
JohnTP
February 10, 2007 at 11:30 pm
Sodhi- Tribal Fusion is CPM based. I don’t visit Digg much these days, especially when there is a Digg for bloggers
JohnTP
February 10, 2007 at 11:32 pm
Thilak- I don’t allow non-paid ads in Tribal Fusion. What about you?
Thilak
February 10, 2007 at 11:36 pm
I don’t allow non-paid ads too.. There is a way to put up alternate ad. but it didn’t work for me. Have you tried?
I have removed tribalfusion, now that I have BlogAds.. there is no much space left for TF.
TribalFusion’s hardcore ads.. pulls attention and indirectly cause Adsense CTR to drop.
Did you notice that or is it just me?
JohnTP
February 10, 2007 at 11:52 pm
Thilak- I read about it, but did not try to place alternate ads.
Yes, I noticed that when I put Tribal Fusion Ads on my header, the CTR of my 336×280 AdSense unit below the post title on single pages decreases
But if I remove the Tribal Fusion (728×90) from the header, I will only earn about $5 a day from TF
I am confused on what to do. I will try to redesign my theme and prevent this from happening.
Thilak
February 11, 2007 at 12:11 am
Na.. If I were you, I won’t redesign because you current theme is really eye-pleasing. TF is CPM ads right? So why not try placing it after your footer.. not much attention will be paid around those areas and you still get the money.
Have you considered that?
JohnTP
February 11, 2007 at 12:24 am
Thilak-
I have thought of that, but when you apply for TF, they ask you to enter into a Web Publisher Agreement of which one of them is
Thilak
February 11, 2007 at 12:35 am
Heheh… I never read that, anyway.. I claim footer region to be a fold area
Maybe, You’ll have to sacrifice one TF adblock then.
JohnTP
February 11, 2007 at 1:12 am
These are the ad placement requirements of Tribal Fusion:
So I have a skyscraper and rectangle below the fold
Thilak
February 11, 2007 at 1:19 am
I had one question in my mind… If a rectangle can fit below comment box, why not Leaderboard?
JohnTP
February 11, 2007 at 1:30 am
I am not sure if leaderboard will do well below the fold. I will try and see anyways.
