Blogg-Buzz: A Digg Like Site For Bloggers
ADVERTISEMENTSThose of you who use Digg might have noticed that it is harder for Blogs to get to the Digg frontpage (except for popular blogs like Problogger.net and TechCrunch) and bloggers also may get flamed by Diggers for submitting their own blogs. What’s worser is that Digg even started banning blogs like JohnChow.com and PaulStamatiou.com.
So for the past one month, Shivaranjan and I have been working on Blogg-Buzz which is a Digg like site for Bloggers to submit interesting blog posts and videos. When Shivaranjan was busy with his office work, I had help from other bloggers like Carol, Ashish and Sreedhar.
So what can you do in Blogg-Buzz? A lot…you can submit stories in Blogg-Buzz, comment on stories, spy on who is buzzing, find out the Top Buzzers, add friends and even send Private Messages to other Buzzers! So, it can be real fun once you start using it.
Blogg-Buzz can be useful for those who want to find the best content on the Blogosphere as well as for those who want to get extra traffic to their Blogs. And we will also try to improve Blogg-Buzz and make it something more than just a ‘Digg like site’.
Today, even though Blogg-Buzz is still in it’s Alpha stage, we decided to launch it so that we get feedback from more bloggers. If you find any bugs or have any questions, don’t hesitate to contact us.
We hope you will enjoy Blogg-Buzz just like we enjoyed working on it. So dear bloggers, stop Digging and start Buzzing!

I’ll gladly use an alternative to Digg. I’m so sick of Digg I removed the “Digg This” button from my site.
Thanks for the tip. I’m heading over now & chances are I’ll blog about it.

It would be cool if you were to implement Adsense and install the Pligg Adsense revenue module. Since most blog owners have an Adsense ID, they could get money for posting on what they posted on this site, which is something not found in Digg.
Good luck.

sharique- there is already a sports category and I added a politics category too.
Jason Drohn- Yes. But I modified the theme.
fiLi- Currently we do not wish to put Ads on Blogg-Buzz. But I will announce on this blog, if we enable that module.
All- After registering, please spend some time voting all the posts you like.

What I like about Blogg-Buzz
1. Simple and clean interface
2. Focus on blogs - but how do you propose to control submissions ?
3. Willingness to accept that its like Digg - at least that itself can give you a lot of publicity to start with
What I dont like about Blogg-Buzz
1. Web Page Design - Definitely can improve. The fonts at some places are not matching with their status on the page. For example the fonts on the tabs at the top of the page are too small
2. If you intent of having the Top Buzzers section is to grow your network and hence grow yourself, then I think it has to come out cleaner. Nobody I think would read from so much information.
I just became a member on the site and am hoping to use it in the coming days. Let me see how it works out.

Wonderful, wonderful news! I’m very excited about this. While search engines have been generally good to bloggers, sites like Digg and Reddit have been very discouraging. It’s great to finally have an answer for us bloggers. Congratulations and thank you!

Hey ! That’s a gr8 news ! Been waiting for something like this for a long time. I hope you got some kind of filtering so that we have all blogs n nothing else on Blogg-Buzz. There are other places for them !
Also… had another doubt… this would be a great place to put up best of our own blog posts., would we be flamed HERE to buzz stories from our own blogs ? I certainly hope not !
Good work John ! We all appreciate it.

yes, I was also confused in spelling. First day I visited by clicking link. Next day I typed blog-buzz in address bar, then I noticed that it is blogg-buzz.

I think you should look into the hosting: it takes quite a while to load. If you’re looking for financing, you might want to get in touch with performancing or PayPerPost. Good work though

Best of luck bro for your new venture..!!
i really liked the design.. bt i think it would be better to place the sidebar on the right side instead of on left.
it will be more handy..( just a suggestion..)
and dont you think you could have chosen some better and more catchy domain name.. blogg-buzz.com has double g and a n unwanted character…

Great idea. I know Digg doesn’t want people to game the system, but there’s a lot of useful stuff posted in blogs.
Robert Irizarry
January 16, 2007 at 2:24 am
I agree with Ryan - I can understand Digg not wanting blogs to “skew” things but trying to take them out of the mix is a poor way of dealing with them. Blogs aren’t going away and sites like Digg will eventually have to find a way to accommodate blogs or face being replaced by sites that will.
