It’s just something I want to know before I complete my new design :)

Hi john, my preference is to have body of the blog at middle and sidebar on either sides. It looks good to me and I can categorize easily according to my taste which suits the readers as well !

    John,

Your poll may be a bit misleading. Just be aware of that. What people use and what people like are two different beasts.

Some people may like two sidebars together on one side (that was my answer), while some people prefer symmetry. Humans are symmetry-seeking beings. (In fact, studies show that people define beauty through symmetry.)

My point is this: people may find sidebars on each sidebar to be more esthetically pleasing, but not necessarily more usable or helpful.

And when it comes to eye-tracking studies, they show that the “golden triangle” (the uppermost left corner of the body) is what people read and use the most. But aside from ads (and if that is not your purpose), therefore, to me, a sidebar may be distracting me from your content, which is what I’m most interested in.

    Just a thought.

I prefer the two sidebars together on the right. I have tried them split in the past and find that the content tends to get lost by sidebar activity.

Don’t get me wrong, there are a lot of nice three column themes that offer the side bars on either side, but i prefer the side bars on one side.

I currently like sidebars on both sides as I think it will make the site look less cluttered with links. But I need to know what the majority of my readers like :)

One sidebar on each side. It look better plus your attention is usually in the middle of the screen IMHO and this is where the main content should be.

i like your current sidebar’s placement .seriously ;)

john i told u my opinion before..
    and “yan” is just right!
putting the main content in the middle (or between anything -which is in this case the sidebars-) will make (me) the reader concentrate on it on the first!
and as u said:”I think it will make the site look less cluttered with links”
    which is absolutely right!

John, I accidentally voted to see them on both sides, I prefer them together, subtract one from both sides and add it to together. Sorry — I can’t read today.

    Hi John,

I prefer a column on either side of the main text, especially if the left hand side is used for indexing the website and the right hand side is other links. I have visited other websites like this and I find it is intuitive when you are trying to find something on the site to go to the left side menu’s.

Personally, I prefer to have the option to customize where I want my polls, but if I had to choose…I guess I’d want them next to each other. It seems to be a phase I’m going through. Usually, I want one on each side of the content.
