How did you get into Blogging?
ADVERTISEMENTSHere I share my story on how I got into Blogging…
For many years I had wanted to own a website. On October 2005, I read an article about PHP Nuke and on a popular Indian Technology Magazine.
I soon logged onto their Forum (I was already a member of that forum) and asked the members there to suggest me a good Web Host. Their suggestion was Web1 Solutions and since the owner of the company was the Administrator of that Forum then, it was easy for me to contact him.
On about October 17th I bought JohnTP.com. Even then I had no clear idea of what to put on my site. All I had planned was to put some personal details about me and I also had the crazy idea of putting a Forum on my site.
Since I had read about PHP Nuke on the magazine, I decided to give it a try. But it did not work out well as I had some problems with login and other things.
I then contacted my host with whom I had become good friends by then and asked him for help. I told him about my plans on PHP Nuke and a Forum.
He replied back
Forums won’t do good on Personal sites. Start a Blog. Blogs are best for personal sites
At that time, I had no idea about Blogs or Blogging and so I visited his (Deep) blog. Soon I found what blogs were all about and I installed WordPress. I don’t remember why I chose WordPress, may be it was because I found many blogs using it.
The blogs that encouraged me to earn through blogging were LiewCF.com and ProBlogger.net
Well that is how I got into blogging..What is your story? Please do share it with me

I had messed with blogs in the past off & on (of course not too much since they aren’t THAT old), but when it really started for me was when I got engaged a few years ago. I setup a blog to post updates, events, schedules, etc for the family to keep up to date on things. I figured that was a better solution than trying to keep up with everyone over the phone or email.
I had done blog-type sites before, but never with anything powered like Wordpress. I actually had started with b2evolution, which had a great forum community, but eventually switched to Wordpress. I definitely agree that Wordpress is the best though. I use it for all of my blogs (I’ve got quite a few!) and love it!

I was a fond reader of rediff and rediffblogs and I have posted several articles in it, but nothing clicked. Later I found that rediff has started iland in which I blogged for several days.
It was at that time when I came to know about blogger. I registered, but then, I really don’t know what blogging is and how to use blogger for blogging, because its all a new experience to me.
Meanwhile, I was regularly visiting shivaranjan’s blog from which I gained much knowledge of blogging etc. In fact, it was he who suggested me to blog using wordpress and I never regret the decision. Now, I’m here, blogging happily.
I plan to own a website soon, in which I’ll be blogging more about science and research in layman language so that everybody can understand.
By the way, thanks John for giving an opportunity to think back of those happy days of learning

When i was visiting these digit forums , i noticed that many of the users had personal blogs . After visiting them regularly i too became interested in making a blog or a site in which i can share my views etc . So initially i tried Blogspot and free Wordpress but then decided that having total control on your site is a better option .
Then i got my site hosted through Deep who was an administrator of digit forums and also a good friend and on around the end of February http://www.whoismadhur.com was born .

Haha… JohnTP, you are not alone. I try many things before then only go into blogging. The first thing I did is pixel advertising… But, end up with nothing. Not even a sale. Then, I try forum - http://www.MalaysiaStudentClub.com. This is a forum discussing about Malaysian Education. After that, I did try HYIP and autosurfing before. But, finally, I started my first blog - http://www.EarningBlog.com in august 2006. I know that I am a bit late. But, I try my best to promote my blog.
http://www.LiewCF.com also did encourage me to blog. He did have a short interview with me before at HERE.

Pixel advertising? That must have been hard. Managing a Forum is not easy either. I have been doing it myself here.
Earning through blogs is not easy too but it is more fun than managing a forum.

I pretty much inherited my blog. I had been contributing content for a while, and when the founder got too busy, I offered to update the site more. Eventually I took over everything, I don’t hear from the original author much now.
We’ve used WordPress since April, before that I had been using phpWebSite since I started in 2003.

I got started about the time I decided I wanted to build an electric guitar. I became interested in the idea while researching the matter of ergonomics and guitars. I was spending a significant amount of time researching and posting in guitar building forums and thought a blog would be a great way to not only document the build process but keep track of related ideas.
It’s worked out well. Professionally, I’m in IT and I had been looking for an opportunity to have a site of my own. I’m somewhat limited by blogger in certain respects but I think I’ve stilled quite a bit in the process. I’m glad to be a part of the blogosphere.

My blog started out as a diary, because I couldn’t be bothered writing out what I wanted to in a book. It’s quite obvious from my first entry … =X
I’d have to say I’ve improved a lot since those days, and gradually discovered what I like writing about and what people like reading and talking about

Yvonne- My first entry on this blog was a Welcome message. Yesterday I deleted some on the first entries as they were getting a lot of spam comments and trackbacks.
When did you start blogging? If I am not mistaken you started on June 12, 2006. A day before my birthday

Sometimes I want to delete my older posts because many of them are cringe-worthy, but I like to keep them there for posterity
And yup, I started the day before your birthday Moved from Blogger, to Wordpress.com, to my own domain in July.

I have been participating in various Palm forums and found that a lot of Palm users were asking the same questions over and over. Although I loved helping them out, I thought that there must be a better way. Then, one day I came across a cool program that allowed me to create Flash demos using screenshots and then it just clicked. I realized that writing a blog would be the perfect way to help people, especially incorporating the Flash demo to demonstrate and show people how to use the Palm and the programs.
At the time, I didn’t have much of an idea about blogging but just thought I’d try it and opened up a Blogger account since everyone was talking about it. I blogged for a few months but was getting annoyed by the frequent maintenance and problems at Blogger and finally decided to get my own domain and host server. Again, I had absolutely no idea what I was getting into but figured that I’d better learn since I paid for it.
And now, I’m celebrating its one year anniversary and even got a contest going. Things are finally “clicking” and I’m getting more exposure and support from vendors. I’m slowly trying to improve on the site by reading up on blogging to help improve my site and it’s a lot of fun and learning.
Slow and steady as they say. And I’m quite happy with it.

I’m an amateur at blogging, too. and while I was successful in setting up the accounts and all, I still couldn’t handles some of the settings and how to change html and use java correctly. I have blogs in wordpress, blogspot, even yahoo! 360! And I’m so ashamed that I can’t find the time to make some updates…

I always dream to be a writer but never have the chance until I read from Startech central about blogging. I experimented with blogger and like the simple features, not looking back since.
