How to Reduce Ad Blindness
ADVERTISEMENTSWhen you display an Ad in the same location with the same colors and Ad format, regular visitors tend to ignore them. This is called Ad Blindness.
A few days back I had mentioned about a WordPress Plugin called Adsense Injection that helps you to reduce Ad Blindness on your blog. Here is another tip to reduce AdSense Ad Blindness.
The tip here is to rotate between four different for your AdSense Ads.
- Log in to your account at
- Click the AdSense Setup tab and choose AdSense for content as the product
- Choose an Ad type and format.
- In the Colors drop-down box, click ‘Use multiple palettes’, then select up to 4 color palettes by holding down the Control or Command key
- Copy-and-paste the AdSense Ad code into web pages
As 4 different color schemes are used randomly on your page, there is a good chance that your visitors will click the Ad thereby increasing your click through rate (CTR) and allowing you earn more with AdSense.

‘Use multiple palettes’ are great, also for use in normal ads on the page.

Thanks for the great tip!
I think I like the multiple palettes way more than using a WordPress plugin.

Somehow I never noticed that option on the Adsense setup page. I think WordPress users (myself included) often assume that a plugin is the easiest (or only) way to address an issue. Clearly not the case. Thanks for writing this post!

I have always been under the impression that the more you can blend the ad into the content the better you’d be, but this does make sense. I am definitely one of those people that has “Ad Blindness”. I just might give this a try.. here’s hoping it doesn’t really ugly-up the blog.
