How to increase your blogs traffic -part4
ADVERTISEMENTSToday I will explain more on how to increase your blogs traffic. Please read Part 1, Part2 and Part 3 of this series on increasing your blogs traffic before reading this.
Following all the tips I had covered over the last 3 parts of this series has helped me increase my blog’s traffic to more than 3 times of what I used to get one month ago. So I hope these tips help you too.
-
Write content that your readers want to read
If you write posts that readers enjoy reading, they will reward you with backlinks and return to your blog regularly.
Make your posts conversational, ask them questions and for their opinion at the end of your posts. Keep the posts short and stick to one topic per post.
How do I know what my readers enjoy reading?
Check your Site stats using Awstats or and find out which posts get the most page views. With Google Analytics you can even find out the top content and through which posts visitors enter your blog.
You can also find your blogs overall popular posts with Popularity Contest WordPress plugin.
Find these popular posts and write more on them to give readers a reason to return in order to maintain regular readers.
Write regularly so that both readers and search engines visit your blog more often.
-
Optimize your Posts for Search Engines
- make sure your blog’s URL contains the primary keyword you want to optimize for
- use your primary keywords that you are targeting in the title of your post
- Use your secondary keywords in the body of your post
- Use your keywords in the anchor text of external links in the body of your posts
- Use your keywords in the anchor text of internal links in the body of your posts
-
Get links to your blog
Getting links to your blog helps you to get a lot of traffic. They also help you in ranking well in Technorati and in getting search engines to regularly visit your blog for better indexing.
So how do you build links to your blog?
- trackback to other blogs in your posts
- link to your blog from each page of your blog
- post legitimate comments on other blogs
- offer a link exchange with other bloggers
-
Submit your blog posts to article directories
One of the best methods of promoting your blog is to write articles and submit them to article directories.
I usually submit my popular articles to Ezine Articles. You can find a good list of article directories here.
-
Allow readers to subscribe by email
Readers check their mail more often than checking feeds for updates. So it’s better you give your readers that option too.
You can use FeedBlitz for this. The service also generates code for a counter that you can put on your blog that shows how much readers have subscribed, similar to counter.
-
Setup your feed on My Yahoo
Set up your feed on so your site gets regularly spidered by the Yahoo! search engine thereby increasing your traffic from Yahoo. For more info check here.
-
Ping blog Services
Every time you publish posts, use Ping-0-matic to ping blog directories.
-
Submit your blog to blog directories
You can find a comprehensive list of directories here and here to which you can submit your blog.

I just wanted to comment so you know that yes, we’re reading this series all the way to the end! Thanks for practicing what you preach and providing such excellent original content in your blog. Your suggestions are practical and straightforward, and I am currently in the midst of following up on them to promote my roommates’ two blogs: one brand-new book review blog ( http://jennsbooks.sharedwing.net/ ) and one established but relatively low-readership humor blog ( http://m_cat.livejournal.com/ ). I’m also mentioning and linking to your posts in my private blog so that my other friends with pubic blogs can also benefit. Thanks again!
