Blocking Spam with Akismet
ADVERTISEMENTSI have been receiving a lot of spam lately so I decided to activate Akismet. Akismet is a plugin for WordPress that checks our comments against the Akismet web service to see if they look like spam or not.
You need a WordPress.com API key to use this service.
Akismet is the best automated spam killer that actually gets better as it learns from the whole community marking new spam comments as spam.
It automatically deletes old spam after 15 days.
According to their page 3,497,624 spams have been caught so far and 82% of all comments are spam.
