Diskeeper the best defragmenter
ADVERTISEMENTSDiskeeper is one of the best defragmenter tools I have seen for Windows. After installation it will replace Windows default defragmenter tool.
Diskeeper offers many features that Windows Defragmenter does not have, such as simultaneous defragmentation operations.
After analyzing your drives Diskeeper will report its health and status in the ‘Job Report’ tab.
The first time I analyzed my C drive, Diskeeper reported its health as ‘Critical’ because of the following reasons:
- the Master File Table (MFT) was 99 percent of the total MFT size
- the volume was heavily fragmented
It suggested that I use ‘Frag Shield’ to resize the MFT size to the recommended size.
After resizing the MFT, Diskeeper reported the health status of my C drive as ‘Healthy’!
Diskeeper also supports Boot-Time defragmentation which is useful when you want to defragment the paging file and MFT.
Another useful feature is ‘Set it and Forget it’ which will automatically keep fragmentation on your drives at a low level.
I now use Diskeeper regularly so that my computer stays as healthy as possible.

Definitely agree, a neat utility that does a cool job, runs beautifully in the backround. I never used to defrag regularly coz it was a bother and besides never thought the performance improvement would be noticeable. However since i started defragging regularly, fewer issues related to boot and shut down and systems smoother than before. worth it for automatic defrag.

the only thing about the frag shield is that the first time i used it, both of my hard drives became corrupted with hundreds of bad sectors and had to be replaced. i would definately use caution when using frag shield

oh, thats sad to hear. I did not encounter any such problems till now.
Anyways use caution when using Frag Shield. Think twice when you do something.

Diskeeper has helped my system a lot and I am sure you will not regret trying it. Just be careful while using it’s Frag Shield.

Perfect disk is better because it is not a memory hogg like disk keeper is, also it has damaged my boot files in the past when using Boot-Time defragmentation,Perfect disk has no problems.

Great work there john and to all who contributed to the posts.
I am a strict follower on hdisk defrag.I started with the mcafee tools (way back) then norton system works and recently for the past two years I juggled between perfect disk and diskeeper. I also do a scheduled disk check.
Now, its sad to say that perfect disk isnt so perfect at all.
It damaged my hard disk when I used perfect disk to take care of the mft and regular defrags with its various options.
One day I get a blue screen with binary numbers and some characters. the only thing I can comprehend is a word part of the binary scribbles is “.ntfs”
Now a huge hdisk full of data is gone and inoperable. I cant format it, cant even put it as slave on another pc. If I do, the system will not work.
tsk tsk tsk perfect disk.
for the first year of the two years juggling between perfectdisk and diskeeper. DISKEEPER NEVER gave me a problem.
